ELV RECYCLING FACILITY
MORE GROUND FOR ROBOTAXI
KOLIN WELCOMES YARIS
In a bid to promote a more organized , transparent , and environment-friendly dismantling of End-of-Life Vehicles ( ELV ), the Maruti Suzuki and Toyota Tsusho Group have entered a joint venture to set up a government approved ELV scrapping and recycling unit .
The 10,993 sq m facility uses advanced machines to dismantle and scrap ELVs and is expected to recycle over 24,000 ELV units every year .
The facility also follows globally approved quality and environment standards including complete solid and liquid waste management .
“ Till now there was no scientific , clean and healthy way to dispose a car at its end-of-life . MSTI uses global process methodology to address this gap . This is just the beginning . With our partners we are committed to set up more such modern ELV scrap and recycle centres in India ,” said Kenichi Ayukawa , Chairman , MSTI and Managing Director & CEO , Maruti Suzuki India Limited .
AutoX now operates the largest service area for fully autonomous RoboTaxis in China . These driverless units cover 168 square kilometres of Shenzhen , China ’ s leading tech hub .
Being able to navigate all the public roads in the Pingshan District in Shenzhen , AutoX has become the first RoboTaxi service to cover an entire district in a Chinese megalopolis .
In January this year , AutoX became the second company in the world to offer a fully driverless RoboTaxi service when it launched a pilot service in Shenzhen .
Toyota Motor Manufacturing Czech Republic ( TMMCZ ) has started production of Yaris in its manufacturing plant in Kolin .
This is part of Toyota ’ s € 180M investment to transform the plant lant to produce A and B segment vehicles on its TNGA B-platform ( Toyota New Global Architecture ).
“ In the last three years , we have built new production areas , set new logistic routes , installed new technology and most importantly , we welcomed almost 1600 new employees to our Toyota plant ,” said Koreatsu Aoki , President of Toyota Motor Manufacturing Czech Republic .
The investment will also enable to facility to produce hybrid electric vehicles including the Yaris Hybrid .
“ Toyota ’ s European sales target is 1.5 million vehicle sales by 2025 , and Yaris will play a key role in achieving this goal . The introduction of both TNGA and hybrid powertrains in TMMCZ is in line with our strategy throughout the region ,” said Marvin Cooke , Executive Vice President Manufacturing , Toyota Motor Europe .
