Even without the pandemic , establishing good and open communication is a cornerstone of effective fleet management . Fleet operators need to effectively articulate expectations and strategies not only to drivers but also to senior management .
The pandemic has made the importance of excellent communication skills in fleet leaders more apparent . This year , fleet operators had to openly communicate changes in their fleet ’ s strategies . Furthermore , they also had to take their listening skills up a notch to they can understand the problems and concerns of their drivers .
5 . An Inclination to Safety
Safety is one of the pillars of effective fleet management . Mitigating risks associated with COVID-19 has taken centre stage in the strategies of many fleet leaders . New safety protocols are now a crucial part of maintaining safe fleets .
Effective fleet leaders have taken it upon themselves to implement sanitation procedures , preventive maintenance efforts , and accident management practices to keep everyone in their organisations safe .
