With the end of 2021 quickly approaching we decided now is the time to explore one of the most important topics for the fleet and automotive industry - SAFETY .
Safety in the context of fleet management is a broad area to cover . From vehicle safety to establishing a positive road safety culture , fleet managers need to know it all . It ’ s challenging to juggle the operational and strategic needs of the business whilst staying up to date with ever-evolving technology that ’ s potentially the solution to your problems , but we ’ ve got you covered .
To shed some light on the subject , in our 31st issue we hear from our suppliers as they share their experience and insights about safety in fleet management , providing solutions and knowledge that can benefit everyone in the industry , we also navigate drivers ’ mental wellbeing in a COVID-19 world with Anby Alcomendas as she explains the unique challenges this pandemic has created . Professor Raphael Grzebieta takes us through Australia ’ s zero road deaths target and questions why 3-star or less rated vehicles are still permitted travel on our roads . We will also take a quick trip ‘ round the globe as we see what is making news around the world .
As we focus on safety in this issue , AfMA continues to develop and provide interactive online Driver Safety Courses . These courses are there to inform drivers on new safety features found in vehicles today and explain the purpose and process behind ANCAP safety ratings . There are also short thirty second Vehicle Safety Feature Animations designed to help drivers understand how these vehicle safety features are designed to work , the animations are free for members to download and use to develop ongoing safety education for drivers .
Recently , part one of the Personal Development webinar series on Emotional Intelligence attracted 326 attendees spread across 161 organisations . Part one Dealing with Difficult People was presented by Lisa Panerello from Careers Advance , New York . She offered tools to develop a different point of view surrounding conflict and issues such as how to determine appropriate means for confronting challenging behaviours , shift from a ‘ defensive ’ to an ‘ offensive position ’ during the conversation and improve your ‘ active listening ’ skills and foster empathy . A special thank you to Summit Fleet Leasing and Management , ORIX Australia , Smartfleet , Custom Fleet , Interleasing , Pedders Suspension and Brakes and BP Australia , whose actions spoke louder than words when they encouraged their employees and customers to participate in the series .
