Executive Summary
Mace Hartley Executive Director
What a year ! COVID continues to play havoc with state borders and makes future planning a continually challenging proposition . We understand many businesses are still doing it tough and as your peak industry body we want to thank you for your continued support of your association AfMA .
AfMA was very privileged to host our 2021 Australasian Fleet Conference & Exhibition in Melbourne on May 20-21 just days before Victoria ’ s most recent lockdown . It was a thrill to host more than 40 exhibitors , present more than 35 speakers who delivered 17 educational sessions in various formats . Delegates attended from all states and territories and we had our highest ever delegate participation with over 430 registered for the conference and another 60 people simply attending the dinner .
By all accounts the conference was a huge success with 167 people taking the time to provide overall conference feedback , whilst we received 359 speaker survey responses of which 92 % rated the educational session as excellent or very good .
Congratulations once again to our industry champions of 2020 who claimed our 2021 Fleet Awards – Steve Ellis from Telstra ( Fleet Manager of the Year ), ACT Government ( Fleet
Environment Award ) accepted by Geoffrey Rutledge , Deputy Director-General for Sustainability and the Built Environment and Spotless / Downer Group ( Fleet Safety Award ) proudly accepted by Matthew Ogilvie , Fleet Coordinator Defence . You can catch up on all the highlights later in this issue .
Also in our 29th Issue of FleetDrive we provide an update on the latest tax time tips with advice for both businesses and individuals alike . Given the changed working conditions we have all faced in 2020 and 2021 there will definitely be some changes as you process your personal return and move into FY21-22 . We also take a look at the rise of the electric ute – which manufacturers are planning to release models in the coming years and will Australia ever get to drive them ? Plus as always we ’ ve got some break out features from some of our suppliers alongside our quirky mix of stories from Around The World .
For those looking to connect with AfMA inperson during the coming months or to register for any future webinars , we encourage you to regularly check AfMA ’ s online
Event Calendar . Here you will find information about what ’ s happening in your region along with links to purchase tickets noting webinars are free ! July sees the start of our Mid Year Professional
