A Rivian R1T ute , was spotted at Auckland Airport in New Zealand earlier this month , likely heading to the Southern Hemisphere proving grounds located near the Cardrona Alps on NZ ’ s South Island . The site is a popular cold weather testing site for manufacturers as temperatures increase across North America and Europe during their summers .
Rivian expects to start global deliveries in July this year , and is hoping to bring the R1T to Australia and New Zealand in 2022 , although an exact date is yet to be confirmed .
