“ It ’ s always good practice to re-visit and refresh fleet and mobility strategies and now seems like the perfect time to do so again . My thoughts on how to approach a new strategy ? Start by thinking the unthinkable and expecting the unexpected ”, says Tim .
Best Practice in 2021
Each organisation will need to consider the implications of change and determine what best practice can be applied within their organisation going forward .
There are many questions to be answered for each organisation – “ What will be the attitude of drivers towards vehicle pooling ? What role could vehicle subscription play ? Are there options to embrace mobility ? How can we reduce our costs but maintain our service levels ? What role will alternative fuel vehicles play ?”
Engage the Right Expertise
Fleet tends to be a significant bottom line expense for most organisations and yet it is often either under-resourced internally and / or managed by Procurement teams that have multiple responsibilities and sometimes role objectives that are not aligned to the fleet lifecycle , beyond acquisition .
This is where engaging the right expertise can be both cost effective and as someone said to me recently ‘ liberating ’.
As you reflect on the many distractions faced by your business in 2020 and think through the challenges and opportunities to be faced in 2021 – consider getting expert advice to align your fleet strategy and operational processes to your organisational objectives .
