FleetDrive 26 - December 2020 | Page 2

Executive Summary

Mace Hartley Executive Director
The 2020 financial year was a difficult year with the onslaught of COVID in early March causing the postponement of AfMA ’ s annual conference and exhibition which contributes over 60 % of our annual revenue . Since that time , our face to face professional development forums have been cancelled but as they say , every cloud has a silver lining .
Whilst we ’ ve talked about hosting webinars for some time , COVID forced us to take action and in June 2020 we held our inaugural webinar . It was attended by over 200 people from more than 140 organisations which exceeds the attendance of four separate face to face professional development forums . Since then AfMA has host two more webinars with each attracting over 200 participants . In 2021 AfMA will host a combination of face to face and webinar based professional development forums allowing us to better serve our members .
Our 26th and final edition of FleetDrive for 2020 is provided to you as an educational resource to deepen your understanding and awareness of the issues affecting fleet management . Inside this eclectic issue we provide a wide variety of updates of what our world will look like in 2021 . What is your organisation ’ s vision for 2021 – are
you hoping to return to life-normal or are you using this time as a genuine chance for change and action ?
On that note , it was exciting to connect with so many of you as AfMA held a WORLD FIRST news broadcast titled State of the Fleet Industry last week . Filmed live in a studio , it was great to bring together the best fleet voices from right around Australasia for a truly international discussion . I think you ’ ll agree that our MC Jon Faine rose to the challenge and asked our guests the questions that needed answering . You ’ ll find in this issue a summary of the event as well as featured pieces and videos from our 2020 Fleet Award winners . Congratulations to all involved !
Moving into 2021 , have you considered applying for our next cohort of the Swinburne Diploma of Leadership & Management ? We have paid scholarships available with thanks to our Corporate Partners and flexible online delivery to make learning work around your schedule so don ’ t hesitate to get in touch . As a note for your diaries please pencil in May 20-21 for the 2021 Australasian Fleet Conference and Exhibition to be held in-person in Melbourne , made possible by our event partners Toyota Motor Corporation Australia and Toyota Fleet Management Australia .
