Executive Summary
Mace Hartley Executive Director
AfMA is delighted to provide our 25th issue of our FleetDrive to you as an educational resource to deepen your understanding and awareness of the issues affecting fleet management . Inside this October issue we focus in on Telematics & Technology . How do we use telematics to our advantage rather than just collecting useless data ?
Inside this issue we speak to some of our leading telematics providers to see how they are handling the challenges of COVID-19 and get their insights on how fleets can use data to help them through these challenging times . We ’ re also covering the latest technology trends that are set to affect our mobile workplaces in the near and not too distant future . Also in this issue we look at data aggregation with Paul Oliver , share key safety tips as part of National Safe Work Week , provide an update on our FootyTips competition and share our usual quirky mix of stories from Around The World .
AfMA ’ s transition to online delivery of information is no different to what every other organisation is facing . Our annual conference couldn ’ t proceed this year and our Professional Development Forums have largely shifted to an online webinar format . But as with everything – this has presented a unique opportunity for us to broaden our delivery and strengthen our commitment to wider markets such as South East Asia , New Zealand and less reached parts of Australia . Our last webinar saw 203 people attend from 149 different organisations , who were in turn responsible for more than 300k + vehicles . That ’ s a lot of cars – but together we are making our fleets safer , greener and more cost effective .
Moving towards the end of the year AfMA is delighted to be hosting a State of the Fleet Industry broadcast . Filmed in a studio , combining live and pre-recorded content to deliver a news / current affairs style broadcast never seen before . We ’ ll feature updates from right around the globe on a variety of fleet topics , capturing views of industry leaders , hearing from governments about their ambitions towards zero emissions and look ahead to what our future fleets might look like . We will also be pausing to honour and recognise our 2020 Fleet Award Winners in the following categories – Fleet Safety Award , Fleet Environment Award and Fleet Manager of the Year . While our usual webinars delve deep into single topic this event will provide a smorgasbord of topics , panellists , and speakers for you to sink your teeth into . Think of this event as our version of Sunrise or Today show on steroids !
In the meantime if you ’ re looking to provide your work health and safety committee with information that will assist their performance , perhaps guide them towards AfMA ’ s new online courses covering Chain of Responsibility ,
