AfMA catches up with
Kyle Bolto, CEO &
Founder at Ohmie Co
WORDS BY DANIEL BRAID
S
lowly but surely it appears mainstream support
for electric vehicles within Australia is finally
becoming less of a pipe dream, and more of
a genuine reality. Newly released figures from the
Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries show
6,718 EVs were sold in Australia last year, up from
2,216 in 2018. In the same period, combustion
engine vehicle sales dropped by 7.8 per cent.
And yet ‘range anxiety’ seems to be a leading cause
of resistance – with 73 per cent of respondents of
a recent RACV study listing distance as the major
hurdle preventing them from purchasing an electric
vehicle. To put the myths to bed AfMA caught up
with Kyle Bolto, CEO & Founder at Ohmie Co to hear
more about his experience with the Hyundai Kona EV
and discover what a drive from Melbourne to Sydney
looks like in an EV.
