Newly released figures from the Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries show 6,718 EVs were sold in Australia last year, up from 2,216 in 2018. In the same period, combustion engine vehicle sales dropped by 7.8 per cent. And yet ‘range anxiety’ seems to be a leading cause of resistance – with 73 per cent of respondents of a recent RACV study listing distance as the major hurdle preventing them from purchasing an electric vehicle.
