FLEETDRIVE
valued and rewarded for your efforts? The simple
truth is you need to understand the organisations
goals and help your boss shine. I know, you have
no time, but you need to find the time. The trick
is to manage up or at least sideways. Use your
skills and experience to achieve organisational
goals without you doing all the heavy lifting.
How do you achieve that? It can be as easy
as providing information to your organisations
work health & safety committee around driver
distraction because 99 per cent of employees
drive vehicles, even if not for work. You could
also provide the committee with information
about safe systems of work for road-based travel
or risk and hazard management in the mobile
workplace. This whole of organisation approach
to road safety is best practice but unfortunately
rarely put into practice.
Regardless of your goals to change
organisations, find a new role or career, or
simply want to feel more appreciated, valued
and better rewarded, your real challenge comes
back to investing time in yourself. Simply doing
what you do, day in, day out won’t help you
achieve your goals.
You need to increase your knowledge because
you don’t know what you don’t know. Learning
and challenging your views and understanding
is like watering a plant, even a cactus eventually
dies without water.
AfMA can help you in many ways. We have
our multicity professional development forums,
our new individual supplier accreditation online
learning path, work health & safety online learning
path, annual conference & exhibition (7th &
8th May) and finally Swinburne’s Diploma of
Leadership and Management.
AfMA is often approached by organisations
looking for talented staff and conversely
employees call us to see if we know of any
vacant roles. You’ll notice we list positions
vacant on our website and even list people who
are seeking new opportunities. This is a free
service for organisations and their employees.
Don’t forget to give us a confidential call if your
hunting for a new opportunity because not all
opportunities are made public.
Good luck, and remember nothing of any value
happens without effort!
