In any case , whether we like it or not , political decisions have always had consequences on the life of nations , and the Ukrainian leaders since the end of the Soviet Union , have unfortunately never understood that it was necessary to put social and economic development of their people at the center of their action . Instead they have always surrounded themselves with Western or Russian sponsors to achieve their personal goals , sacrificing the happiness of their people for their selfish interests , while countries like Germany or Russia discussed with China on the new road silk , Ukrainians leaders only thought has to see to what extent they could join either the European Union for its financial bonanza , or NATO for the submission to a big brother , for protection ; an immature attitude which makes some observers of the world political scene say that , the Ukrainian political class is not capable of freely managing their country , there is a mentality of eternal assistance which inhabits it .
