Globalization and liberal capitalism are the primary enemies of democracy .
On Thursday , December 9 and Friday , December 10 , 2021 , US President Joe Biden gathered around him a hundred countries for a " summit for democracy " The event , organized virtually in Washington due to the Covid-19 pandemic , was intended according to the White House to reveal the fight between democracies and , dictatorships and autocratic regimes , at the center of Biden ' s foreign policy . While Western speeches always seem to focus the decline of democracy on the perverse e ect of dictatorial regimes , of which Chinese communism , or Russian autocracy are the standard-bearers , taking care to avoid angering good friends of the Muslim monarchies of the Persian Gulf , the ultimate suspect or rather the greatest agent of influence of the decline of democracy both in the third world and in the West is never cited . Globalization and the dictatorship of neo-liberal capitalism , which not only requires entities to free themselves from state control but also and above all applies lethal rules to social life in sovereign states , to impose the law of profit . It is not the social movements due to the drastic job cuts in France after privatization , or the appalling conditions of workers in the plantations of multinationals in Africa that will deny it . The digital revolution of the 1990s went hand in hand with globalization , which the virtual economy would develop exponentially . However , the relocation and flexibility of the new economy influenced by new technologies put additional pressure on employees who become overexploited .
