During the Christmas season it comes natural to think of gifts. Here’s 13 things I’m grateful for in 2013:
1. The house selling in August. It would be hard for someone else to know what a weight was removed from my shoulders when the check cleared.
2. My health – I love being able to play football and basketball still and even get a “W” once in awhile against the next generation.
3. City Church – I love going to work each day and leading a group of people in the adventure of following Christ.
4. Christina’s job at ALCS – To graduate, and then decide you want a job at a Christian School, and then to have said job open up at the school our church runs in Madison, and then to get the job. Wow!
5. Having Anne and Christina live with us. Every day is better because of these two wonderful roommates.
6. Beth going to Paris for a semester. We came closer together and to God through the process of making this decision. Sophie is a gift directly from heaven – I am convinced. I also enjoyed Beth and my worship time together where a new term was coined: prothetic.
7. Matt getting a fellowship stipend in addition to his grant. It is a blessing for me to see Matt rewarded for his conscientious, hard work. I love that he has been able to come home so often this year and that he will be joining us (Alice and Tom) in Florida in February.
8. Alice having a job and Alice resigning her job. I feel like 2014 is going to be a new beginning for Alice and me together in ministry.
9. Our Sabbatical in April and May – absolutely a life changer and a marriage enhancer.
10. Redemption. God’s heart for me and for us has become so real for me this year. What a privilege to serve Him and to live as a favored son. I’m also grateful for the kindle book I wrote on hell and for Matt’s help in editing and inspiring it.
Merry Christmas,
Dad; Tom; Tumba
