Odds are, if you live in Pensacola, and you are familiar with tattoos or piercings, you’ ve heard of Hula Moon. Home to many talented artists, the shop is a mainstay of tattoo culture in Pensacola. If you make an appointment, you have your choice of many different styles and talents, and while all are great, I had the pleasure of sitting down with the talented and beautiful Lo, the only female artist in the shop.
Lo allowed me to pick her brain about her take on tattooing, the recent popularity of tattooing in the media, and life in general. Lo has been tattooing for six years, but she has always been an artist. The passion to tattoo didn’ t strike until right before her short-lived apprenticeship after high school. After doing some graphic design and illustration, Lo worked at a tattoo shop that had formerly been the workplace of now co-worker, Famous Gabe.
