LONDON BUSINESS PROFILE 36 yourBusiness H alls Flooring Service began as a small start up installation service company in London in 1972, by Chris Halls. The company’s main focus was to offer installation to contractors, builders, and residential clients who already had flooring, but needed some one to install the product. Word quickly spread through South Western Ontario that Halls had the ability to store and install large quantities of flooring at competitive pricing and expert service. With a stable of 30-40 installers, Halls Carpet took on some of the largest jobs in Ontario. Apartment buildings, office towers, and sub-divisions of housing, there was no job too big or small. Working with some of the early power builders in the city, such as Sam Katz, (Esam) Ewald Bierbaum (Old Oak), Mike Howe (Norquay), and many others helped to solidify a reputation for Halls Carpet as a company that knew their business and knew it well. Skilled labourers, competitive pricing, and meeting customer timelines and budgets--this would become the corner stone for Halls Carpet, a trustworthy and knowledgeable company. A business that prides itself on quality workmanship. Through the years Chris groomed his son Brad to carry on the company with the same integrity and attention to detail. Brad began as a helper in the field, and then graduated to an installer, eventually managing the business and then assuming ownership in 1996. Chris stepped away from the business and allowed Brad to take it to the next level. At that point the flooring business had taken a new direction. In order for Halls Carpet to survive the competitive flooring industry, they were going to have to sell products, along with their great reputation of service and pricing. Starting with a slight name change, it became Halls Flooring, to better represent their body of work. Today, Brad Halls is a very active part of the company, offering a personalized, friendly experience from start to finish. Whether it’s a measure of your home or office, selling products in the showroom or installing your new product, he’s involved in all aspects of the project. Halls Flooring is currently in their 40th year of business and still located in the same building at 171 Exeter Rd, Unit A. Halls Flooring has provided London and surrounding areas with Quality products, along with professional, knowledgable and friendly craftsmen. These are hallmarks, which make for a long and successful business. n Online | VOLUME 1 - ISSUE 2
