Volunteer Program
For organisations such as Fitzroy Learning Network volunteers are our lifeblood. They are integral to everything we do and provide us with the energy
and support to develop and sustain vital programs.
This year has been no exception in the quality and depth of volunteers and
the activities they have been involved in. Currently, we have around 55 active
volunteers, plus a corporate volunteer workforce through our partner the
National Australia Bank as well as CGU.
Volunteer skills, knowledge and expertise has ranged from arts, teaching,
sewing, weaving, knitting, administration, graphic design, IT, research, history, event management, writing and journalism, workshop facilitation, Jewelry
making, art therapy, visual arts, music, marketing, screen printing, Film making , web design, digital editing, social media, law and psychology.
Each and every one of our programs benefit from the involvement of local volunteers and the roles we have offer
has been almost as varied as the talents of the volunteers
themselves. Volunteers have participated in teaching roles,
as artists, graphic designers, writers and youth mentors
across a range of skills.
We have had volunteers who have come in for shortperiods to help us prepare for each term (thanks NAB and
CGU people), volunteers who volunteer when we need
design skills to promote our programs, and volunteers who
turn up every week to assist in our classrooms, distribute
food, mentor young people or help with administrative
tasks. FLN draws its strength and energy from this voluntary contribution and we wish to acknowledge each and
every single person who has assisted us to achieve our
aims throughout the year.
