Youth Programs This year our youth programs delivered at the FLN Clubhouse has seen some excellent progress in its programming and in the creative development of its young members. We have continued in our pursuit of supporting young people to explore and invest in their creative potential. Using new technologies, and the talents of local young people, we have created music, videos, cooked food and built relationships. We welcomed a new team of mentors (Bart, Richard, Liam and Aarti) offering skills in sewing, DJ’ing, cooking, guitar and drumming, and we successfully raised money to keep our programming robust and interesting. The musical talent of young people from our community seems almost boundless. This year we released an album containing the most original songs made so far at the Clubhouse. This album can be downloaded at: http:// fitzroyclubhouse.bandcamp.com/. The album features 9 highly energetic and creative songs about basketball, childhood, money, friendship, school and much more. We encourage all interested in supporting our work to get online and download and experience the talents first hand. All money paid for the album goes back into Clubhouse programs. We have been working on another music video this year to match the quality of our last video (“Wild Beast”) which won the international RE@CH Media Festival judges award last year – competing against more than 100 Clubhouses from all over the world. Our video entry this year is for a song called ‘Skating 4 Eva,’ created by the very talented rap group Girl Zone (featuring Achol, Nyawech, Zoe, Akuech and Atong). We took an excursion earlier in the year with Girl Zone to Bayswater Roller City to film parts of the video, and we’ll be filming the rest on the streets of Fitzroy and Collingwood. Skating 4 Eva music video in the making on the streets of Fitzroy—featuring Girl Zone (aka Achol, Nyawech, Zoe, Akuech and Atong).
