f you are reading this article, then I
am sure you are aware that Fitness
Incentive is celebrating it's 30th year
in business—quite an accomplishment!
And I must say, I am proud to be a part of
the Fitness Incentive family. Looking
through our last newsletter and this
newsletter as well, we get a glimpse at
the changes and growth over those 30
years. In my 10+ years of working here, I
have witnessed so much positive growth
and met so many wonderful people.
So much change. All for the better. So
much growth! Isn't that what life is all
about? Welcoming change and growing
or expanding our horizons (not our
waistlines!). One of the reasons Fitness
Incentive is so successful is because Cor
and Ken are constantly welcoming
change and making the newest most
innovative workouts available to their
members. Another reason is they help
us make the “old” new again! The tried
and true methods of step, kickboxing,
dance classes, aerobics etc… have been
around for decades, however at Fitness
Incentive they never get old or boring.
The same goes for Pilates! Pilates has
been around for over a century!! That's
right folks…over a century!
All of us instructors and trainers are

method to employ with injury
rehabilitation as well as after
rehabilitation therapy. Ideally,
however, one would benefit more by
incorporating consistent Pilates
practice prior to any injury as part of a
regular workout regimen. That's right!
Pilates compliments all kinds of
workout routines, and anyone who
practices it properly will benefit
greatly from all it has to offer.
I could continue to write about the
diversity and benefits of a regular
Pilates workout. Instead I have
decided to ask some devout Pilates
practitioners to share their
experiences here.

I have been a member of Fitness
Incentive since November, 2011 and
have been doing Pilates for
approximately one year. I must admit
I was never into working out. I would
walk on the treadmill or walk around
the neighborhood. I joined the gym
because I had gained some weight, but
more importantly, I was feeling out of
shape and needed to do something to
feel better mentally and physically. I
needed to be healthier for my family.
After joining the gym I was trying to
find something that I could feel
comfortable doing. My sister-in-law
recommended Pilates. I decided to
take the private sessions to get

started. I felt I needed that
accountability to stay on track. I added
2 mat classes a week and now Pilates
jumpboard as well. I felt Pilates would
give me the workout I was looking for
without a lot of jumping around and
stress on my joints as I have lower back
and knee issues. Pilates was exactly what
I needed. The first thing I noticed is how
my posture has improved. I actually
stand up straight!! My back feels better,
stronger. I can stand for longer periods of
time. My body shape has definitely
changed. I see the difference in my
appearance; flatter stomach, stronger
arms. I can do pus
