We are one of the few
gyms on Long Island that
is offering POUND. The
weighted drumsticks
used in the class are ¼
of a pound. This small
amount of weight adds a
tremendous challenge
that works the
shoulders, biceps,
triceps, forearms and
back but dramatically
increases the amount of
instability in the body.
The greater the
instability to arms or
periphery the greater
the challenge to the
entire muscular system,
which in turn challenges
the core.
The Pillars of Pound
1. Audio Physio reinforcement (APR)
The ability to hear your body's physical
exertion. You literally can calibrate the
force, speed and timing of your body's
movements based on the volume and
sound quality of each strike.
2. Core- Periphery Stabilization (CPS)
The rapid arm movements performed
with peripheral muscle groups in the
body (arms)- which throw off the
stability in the entire body, resulting in
continual core activation to maintain
balance.
3. Strategic Distraction
This is POUND'S unique approach to
delivering the most intense workout in
the most clever and “sneaky” way. With
its high intensity, participants rarely feel
focused on the strain or difficulty of the
movement.
4. Therapeutic Movement
