Become a Fitness Gourmet
T
he fitness industry is in a neverending voyage of self-discovery.
Someone somewhere—and
sometimes right here—is busy dreaming
up the next “big” thing. Or rediscovering
some little remembered fitness nugget of
yesteryear and bringing it back with
some new branding as the latest “it” fad.
Many amount to little more than putting
lipstick on a pig, but some of these new
and rediscovered modalities have
something, maybe even a lot, going for
them. Some succeed in sticking around,
permanently embedding themselves,
blending into the broader fabric of the
fitness culture. Others—the
majority—quietly disappear off the map,
never to be heard from again. At least
not until someone rediscovers them, yet
again.
So how do you pick the winners from the
also-rans? The thigh-masters from the
Stairmasters, as I once put it back in the
1980’s. It comes down to experience,
which means longevity, which, as we’ve
been reminding you incessantly, we have
in spades. The classes and programs that
we bring to you have already been
vetted by our unmatched staff; people
you know, trust and love like Kelly
Wallace and Dina Voigt, Jim Cordova,
Amy llinas Lynch and Marianela VirellaMeilke, just to name a few. We have a
group of professionals that have been
around the block a few times and know
their way around a gym. When they
dream up or simply put their stamp of
approval on a new class or small group
program you can be sure it’s the real
deal; something that you’ll find new,
different, challenging, safe and, above
all, fun. That’s because they live, eat,
sleep and breathe fitness. They’re
passionate about this stuff, and like
master chefs they have fashioned a
world-class fitness restaurant with a
menu that has something for every taste.
Why is this important? There are several
reasons. First off, variety means you
never have to get stuck in a rut doing the
same routine over and over. You can
change it up anytime you feel the
motivation (or lack thereof). And that
helps keep you coming to the gym,
which, as we all know, is the trick to this
whole fitness thing. But variety also
means your approach to fitness can
evolve and grow over time. You can
become a fitness gourmet! Maybe you’ll
start out as a cardio-kickboxing junkie
and wind up finding your true love is
yoga. Maybe your fitness tastes will
evolve from black-lit cycling in the
cycle studio to Power X under the big
blue sky. Whatever your course will be,
Fitness Incentive provides not just an
outlet for you to explore your fitness
The new Jacob’s Ladder Stairway, fore and aft
undersea theme had been showing a
little bit of wear and tear. Being a
mural in a children’s room will do that
to you. We were fortunate enough to
find John Sacchitello, muralist
extraordinaire, back when we first
opened at our current location. Now
he’s come back to update his work. We
took his advice and changed up the
scene from deep sea to magical garden.
It’s newly finished and beautiful. Stop
in and take a peek.
New and Notable...
Every summer brings some new classes
and programs, and this one is no
different. Here’s a quick run down:
options, but also the incentive (pun
intended) to do so. As George Harrison
once put it, “the gardener toiled to
make his garden fair, most for thy
pleasure.” So it is at FI. We do it all
for you, and hope you fully enjoy our
garden of fitness delights.
A New Tree in Our Garden...
Speaking of our “garden,”
metaphorically of course, we have
been busy planting and weeding, as
always. After years of searching, we
have finally found a “stairway”
machine that can fit in our facility. All
