Fish Sniffer Boat Review : The Fish Sniffer Rogue Jet 21 ’ Coastal
e have had the wonderful opportunity to fish all over Northern California from a beautiful Rogue Jet Coastal 21 walk through windshield model . We have fished it from Pyramid Lake , Nevada to the Pacific Ocean , and many places in between . The 21 ’ Coastal is a big , deep and wide welded aluminum fishing boat built for big water . The hull is a Progressive Deadrise design that tapers from 18 degrees at the transom to 50 degrees at the bow , with five welded lifting strakes , and a large offshore bracket . The interior of the boat is huge , featuring 36-inch sides , an open floor with over 31 square feet of fishing space , large enough to fit a double size mattress very comfortably . This is perfect for boat camping in some out of the way places ! The Rogue Jet Coastal is built for fishing with features like these : Anchor locker , deep bow with large fish box , walk through windshield design with dual windshield wipers , large glove box , custom steering wheel , and Air Lift suspension seats . The welded rigid frame canvas top features clear side curtains , plus overhead interior light , back deck light , rocket launcher rod holders and net holders on each side .
The stern of the boat has a 56-inch wide aerated live well , and a very practical back door in the transom . This door allows you to enter the boat by stepping up on the extra long trailer deck , up onto the offshore bracket , and through the door and into the boat . This is much easier than trying to straddle the 36-inch sides ! It also allows the man with the net to easily access the offshore bracket and reach big fish that need to be netted carefully !

I had to get used to this instantaneous
acceleration – the first few times I throttled up and put the boat on plane , I was going 40 mph before I realized it ! It will push the big 21 Coastal to 50 mph , and all in just a few seconds ! The Evinrude ETEC is very smooth and quiet and comes with an inboard computer that displays all the functions of the motor . The digital throttle is extremely smooth – it gently clicks into gear instead of the clunking grind that most outboards have . The Rogue Jet Coastal also features a matching 15 hp Evinrude ETEC kicker motor . Also a two stroke , this is the easiest starting kicker motor I have ever used . One touch of the starter button and it is idling immediately , regardless of temperature or elevation . The 15 hp Evinrude has one of the coolest features I have ever seen on a kicker motor – it has a “ micro speed control ” rocker switch that increases or decreases the engine rpms by about 50 each time you touch it . What this means , is you can quickly and accurately change your trolling speed from 1.4 mph to 1.5 mph at the touch of a button ! No more twisting the throttle back and forth several times to finally get the speed you want . A fantastic feature for anyone who trolls ! We customized the Rogue Jet with a Minn Kota I Pilot electric trolling motor with Copilot on the bow , a new touch screen Lowrance XDS 9 Gen 3 GPS / Fishfinder with Structure Scan technology , a Lowrance VHF radio with 8 foot antenna , and 2 Canon Magnum
