Bass Go Shallow On North End
NAPA – Black bass are moving into the shallows at Lake Berryessa – and increasing numbers of fish are moving onto the spawning beds as the weather warms up . Anglers are catching all three bass species – largemouths , smallmouths and “ spots ” – at Berryessa now . Luke Lipinovich of Sweeney ’ s Sports in Napa reported that jerkbaits like the Lucky Craft Pointer Minnow in the Ghost Minnow pattern are producing good numbers of bass . For a chance at a spring trophy largemouth , he recommends using big swimbaits . Fishing pressure for kokanee salmon has increased with the pleasant weather , particularly on the weekends . Boaters are trolling for the landlocked sockeyes in the top 30 feet of water with purple / pink spinner hoochies , tipped with white shoepeg corn , behind an array of dodgers in the lake ’ s north end . For kings , anglers should mooch with Gitzits with anchovy fillets under the Putah Creek Bridge .

Kokanee Limits Keep Rolling In
DOBBINS – If you want to catch a 10 fish limit of scrappy kokanee salmon , it ’ s hard to beat Bullards Bar Reservoir now . “ Two customers reported catching their limits of kokanee in the 9 to 11 inch range on their latest trip to Bullards Bar ,” said Craig Newton at Willfish Bait and Tackle . “ The bigger fish continue to show from the surface to 25 feet deep . There are also fish showing at 25 feet and below .”

BURSON – Trollers are bagging rainbow trout at Lake Camanche while trolling 16 to 25 feet below the surface . The top lures are Speedy Shiners and Rapalas , according to the Lake Camanche Recreation Company . Just ask Justin from Galt , who landed a 5.89 lb . rainbow while trolling a Speedy Shiner in the main lake . Big trout honors also go to Jack M . from Sacramento , who bagged a 7.41 lb . rainbow near Hat Island while using Power Bait !. Shore fishing has been for best for anglers tossing out nightcrawlers and sherbet Power Bait near the north and south shore ramps and at the South Shore Pond .
