NorCal Trout Angler ’ s Challenge Visits Lake Pardee On May 8th !
he hottest trout fishing tournament series in the country , The NorCal Trout Anglers Challenge series is slatted to visit Lake Pardee on May 8th . Big numbers of trout and perhaps a jumbo brown trout or two will test the skills of both boaters and bank anglers . Lake Pardee stands out among California reservoirs for the fine trout , kokanee and black bass fishing that it provides for families either going on a day trip or camping adventures there . With heavy plants of rainbow trout in the 1 to 5-pound range throughout the season , ninety percent of the anglers
Los Vaqueros Reservoir go there for the trout or kokanee . Pardee , an East Bay Municipal Utility District ( EBMUD ) reservoir , is managed by the Rocky Mountain Recreation Company . The lake is formed on the Mokelumne River near Ione in the Mother Lode region and is planted heavily with rainbow trout throughout the season . Though the trout average 1 to 1-1 / 2 pounds , plenty of trophysized rainbows , including some beautiful holdovers , are caught every year at Pardee . Rainbows are not the only salmonid caught at Pardee . The lake features a sleeper wild population of German browns

5 Trolling Lures That Your Grandpa Used – And You Still Do !
Trolling for trout is a perfect way of spending any spare time my life offers me . Motoring along on some lonely Sierra lake waiting for that next big strike is right where I love to be . Poring through the vast expanse of my tackle box recently , I was struck by how many lures I really owned , both new and old . Vintage tackle collecting is a big hobby of mine and fishing with some of that tackle from the past is something I often do . As I stared at all my trolling gear , I thought of the past generations that had fished the very same lures in their search for trolling success . South Bend Super Duper
This small U-shaped piece of bent metal has been responsible for many full stringers over the years ! I found advertising dating as far back as 1954 for these lures . Originally created by South Bend , the lure has been in the hands of Luhr Jensen for many years . These were originally available in sizes from 1 / 8 oz to over 2 oz . for the big saltwater versions ( discontinued long ago ).
