After the global decline in value of hydrocarbons brought to
fore the perils of insufficient attention to economic
diversification, United Arab Emirates, (with its mangroves
equipped natural fisheries ecosystem) is GCC’s 3rd largest
producer of fish at about 80,426 tonnes (2013 estimates,
FAO), recognized the fisheries sector as the next most
important sector for stabilizing its economy.
