but they seem
to be scattered
and there are
still lots of weeds
in the water
which have been
hampering both
trollers and bait
anglers.

have been doing

“The sturgeon fishing has been
really good recently,” reported Captain
Hayden Mullins of Dragon Sportfishing.
“We’ve gotten limits for our anglers
several times over the past couple
weeks. We are fishing deeper water
areas, mainly with roe. There are some
weeds around, but we’ve been able to
deal with them pretty effectively. If you
want to fill a sturgeon tag before the
season ends, this is a great time to hit
the water. The fish are biting well and
we are getting multiple fish every trip.”
On the striper front, the San Joaquin
has been providing the best action
because there are less weeds than on the
Sacramento. Trollers are doing okay, but
overall anglers drifting with live bait have
been doing the best on fish that range up
to 12 pounds.
Salmon scores go up and down on a
daily basis. Some days anglers
fishing above Rio Vista have
multiple opportunities,
other days it’s slow
going. Spinners are
the best offering in Delta
waters followed by
wrapped Flatfish. Most
of the fish are running
10 to 25 pounds.
