HOT BITES...
1.
SACRAMENTO RIVER RAINBOWS… Wild
rainbows to 3 lbs are on a very consistent bite. Fly
guys score on rubber legs nymphs while conventional
anglers rely on roe and plugs.
2.
MONTEREY ROCKFISH… Rockfish and
lingcod action has been steady for central coast
anglers. Shrimp flies, metal butterfly jigs and soft
plastics teamed with jigheads are all working well.
3.
WHISKEYTOWN KOKANEE… Kokanee limits
are the rule. For fish in the 14 to 16-inch class,
troll Paulina Peak blades and hoochies.
4.
TAHOE MACKINAW… Mackinaw to 14 lbs.
are being landed by trollers. Top line trolling with
minnow plugs has been working well in water up to
75 feet deep.

S.F. BAY HALIBUT… Live bait is available
and drifters are hooking up. Work the central
section of the bay for halibut to 35 lbs. Stripers are
hitting too.

DELTA STRIPERS… Trollers are smacking
limits of stripers that weigh up to 12 lbs. Yo-
Zuri deep running Crystal Minnows have been the
lure of choice.
7.
NEW HOGAN STRIPERS ... Trollers pulling
rigged anchovies and shad are nailing bass.
The fish average 3 to 5 lbs. and range up to 8
pounds.
8.
LITTLE TRUCKEE TROUT… Fly guys are
whacking rainbows and browns. Nymphs
from size 12 to 14 work well all day long. Late in
the day dry caddis imitations bring fish to the top.
SLEEPERS...
9.
CLEAR LAKE BASS…Nighttime bass action
is underway. Anglers are using a variety of
lures including large Power Worms and Brush
Hogs to catch bass up to and beyond 6 lbs.

DON PEDRO ‘BOWS… Sizzling trout action
has developed. For rainbows to 3 lbss.pull

LAKE AMADOR BASS… Big bass are on
tap for anglers fishing early and late in the
day. Large plastic worms and jigs work the best, but
Spooks and swimbaits are hooking fish too.

HALF MOON BAY ROCKFISH… Boats
departing from Pillar Point and traveling south
of Pigeon Pt. are scoring limits of rockfish. White
shrimp flies are working well.

AMERICAN RIVER SHAD…By late May,
wide-open shad action should be taking
place on the American River. Crappie jigs, flies and
other small offerings will generate hook ups.
