“ The bigger bass were now a little deeper , down to 20 feet after last weeks heat spell . Most of our bass were found on points yesterday ,” he tipped .
The water temperatures were 73 to 77 degrees and the water was clear , with a 4-plus foot visibility .

Fast & Furious Kokanee Action On Tap
DOBBINS – If you want to catch a bunch of kokanee salmon but aren ’ t worried about size , then head to Bulllards Bar Reservoir .
“ Bullards Bar is the place to go for big numbers of kokanee ,” advised Alan Fong of Fisherman ’ s Warehouse . “ The fish range from 8 to 12 inches long . Three of us on my last trip there must have hooked at least 50 kokane in four hours of fishing . We kept our 10 fish limits of kokanee in the 10 to 12 inch class .”
He recommended trolling with pink Radical Glo Tubes and other lures at 20 to 25 feet deep in the lake ’ s main body over 300 feet of water . Remember to tip the hooks of your lures with white shoe peg corn .
“ We had another red hot day on Bullards fishing for kokanee ,” said Rob Reimers of Rustic Rob ’ s Guide Service after his last trip . “ I got my two clients their 10 fish limits – and mine too . The Brad ’ s kokanee cut plug was killing them again at 35 feet deep . Kokanee pods are showing all over the lake off the points .”
Few anglers have getting out on Englebright Reservoir lately , due to the big numbers of recreational boaters hitting the lake and the hot weather , reported Lisa Rogers at the Skipper ’ s Cove Marina .
Englebright is a sleeper for beautiful holdover rainbows and a few wild German browns . Troll spoons , spinners and nightcrawlers up the river arm .

BURSON - Lake Camanche came up to 97 % of capacity , but the lake has gone back down to 96 % with the slowing of inflows into the reservoir .
Pardee Lake is still spilling over and releasing water as of this report , said Terry Willard of the Camanche Recreation Company . Lake Camanche ’ s elevation is approximately 233.34 ′ and releasing approximately 2,400 C . F . S .
“ Please note that the high water means that the ramps are a little flatter as it nears the top of the ramp and may be a harder to launch bigger , deeper boats ,” she said .
Fishing reports have slowed down with the big increase in recreational boating pressure , with bass providing the most action lately . Reports on trout , crappie and catfish have been scarce .
Bradley Fuller of Mokelumne Hill landed a 4.96 lb . bass while fishing a green swim bait in Campers Cove .
Justin Zumbro reported catching a 4.75 lb . largemouth , among 20 plus other bass , on a trip to Camanche . On his next trip , he reported catching and releasing 20 bass , including a 4 lb . largemouth .
Finally , Rick @ rickscustombaits reported “ another great day ” of bass fishing on the lake with fishing buddy Russ Sampson .
“ The water temperatures ranged from 80-85 degrees . The water was clear except where the shores were wind blown and there were mud lines . Most of the fish were caught in 3-20 ’.”

Trollers Nail Mackinaws At Silver , Caples Lakes
PIONEER – Silver and Caples lakes are producing a mixture of mackinaw and rainbow trout .
Richard Spears , the manager of the Bear River Lake Resort , caught and released a 22 lb . mack out of Silver Lake one day after the lake thawed . That is the largest mack reported to date this season .
Nicolino Azzollini , from Rohnert Park , landed two mackinaws weighing 5 and 3-1 / 2 pounds at Caples Lake over the July Fourth holiday . He was topline trolling with a brokenback Rapala in just 15-20 ft . of water , Mike at the Caples Lake Resort reported .
Chris Michael from Carson City landed a German brown weighing 6-1 / 2 lbs and measuring 25-1 / 2 inches long while trolling the lake
The CDFW planted 2800 pounds of rainbows in Caples Lake on June 23 .
The winners from the recent Bear River Lake Resort Trout Derby were ( 1 ) Mathew Fritts from Stockton , 2.8 lbs ; ( 2 ) David Rodden from Lodi , 2.5 lbs ; and and Jeremy Titsworth from Escalon , 1.9 lbs .
“ Trout fishing has been pretty good ,,” said Mike Raso of the Bear River Lake Resort . “ Anglers are catching limits of rainbows while fishing with green PowerBait and chrome / blue and firetiger Rapalas off the corner of the dam .”

Bass Bite Heats Up With Weather

These folks took a honeymoon fishing trip to Lake Almanor on June 28 and Captain Bryan Roccucci put the couple on these great rainbow trout .

LAKEPORT -Bass fishing is “ really good ” at Clear Lake , where the largest fish are being caught on frogs and other top water lures in the early morning hours , reported Dave Brabec of Clearlake Outdoors .
“ On my last two trips , my top two fish weighed 5 and 6-1 / 2 pounds ,” said Brabec . “ I caught and released those fish while tossing out frogs in open water near tules before 6 am .”
“ The rest of the day I caught bass while fishing on rocks in the mid lake and south end with jigs , shakey heads and crankbaits at 10 to 20

feet deep ,” he noted . “ There are a lot of fish in the 1 to 2 lb . range showing . “
He said the water temperature has ranged from 77 degrees in the mornings to the eighties during the afternoon . The morning is the best time to avoid the algae blooms .
Catfish action has heated up with the hot weather . “ Guys are now reporting 8 to 10 cattish per outing ,” he said . “ One 90-yearold woman landed a 20 lb . catfish recently . Nightcrawlers and chicken livers are the top
