Metal jigs and mooched frozen mackerel are producing lings to 22 lbs. 2. LEWISTON TROUT Lewiston has been planted and bank anglers are hooking limits. PowerBait, Zeke’s Sierra Gold, night crawlers and roe are tempting ‘bows to 4 lbs. 3. LAKE AMADOR BASS Big bass are on tap for anglers fishing early and late in the day. Large plastic worms and jigs work the best, but Spooks and swimbaits are hooking fish too. 4. BUCKS KOKANEE Bucks Lake is the scene of a furious kokanee bite. NEW HOGAN STRIPERS The summer striper bite has broken loose. Trollers pulling rigged anchovies and shad are nailing bass that average 5 lbs and range up to 8 SLEEPERS... 9. ROGUE SPRINGERS Salmon are pushing up the Rogue. Anglers are fishing rigged anchovies and spinners off the anchor for kings to 25 lbs. 10. BERRYESSA BLUEGILL Bluegill that average a half-pound are holding in selected coves. Crickets, red worms and wax worms are all producing fish. 11. MONTEREY ROCKFISH Rockfish and lingcod action has been steady for central coast anglers. Shrimp flies, metal butterfly jigs and soft plastics teamed with jigheads are all working well. For fish to 20 inches troll small Rapalas or soak inflated ‘crawlers off the bank. COMING SOON... 13. MANZANITA LAKE TROUT The second half of July typically marks the beginning of consistent dry fly action. Small No. 16 and 18 flies will tempt trout to 7 lbs. 14. SAC RIVER SALMON Salmon fishing will start on July 16. With strong numbers of salmon in the ocean, the opener promises to be outstanding. 15. FEATHER RIVER KINGS Salmon fishing will start on July 16. There are strong numbers of fish showing outside the Golden Gate, so the prospects for the opener are good. 16. SANTA CRUZ TUNA There is plenty of bait offshore.
