BULLARDS BAR/ENGLEBRIGHT
RESERVOIR cont.
Anglers are also landing some wild
rainbows in the 12 to 13 inch class while
trolling nightcrawlers behind dodgers in
the river and creek mouths.
Bullards Bar is holding 948,985 acre feet
of water, 98 percent of capacity and 113
percent of average.
Reports from Englebright Reservoir
are scarce at this time. However, one
customer, a knowledgeable angler,
reported very tough trout action – he
didn’t land any fish – on his latest trolling
adventure at Englebright, noted Newton.

CAMANCHE LAKE
Trollers Bag Trout In Deep
Water
BURSON – Trout plants are finished at
Lake Camanche until the fall when the
lake cools down. Right now, trollers are
hooking rainbows in the deepest waters of
the reservoir from the river channel to the
dam while using Speedy Shiners, Apex
lures or nightcrawlers behind dodgers.
Some anglers are finding success on
largemouth and spotted bass. Long time
Camanche Angler, Dave Jans reported,” I
caught 7 bass today on 7 different baits-
plastics to reaction baits. Fish are close
to the shore in the morning and move
deeper as the sun warms the water. The
water temperature was 68 degrees in the
morning and 74 degrees in the afternoon.”
Lake Camanche’s elevation has
increased up to 83% full and at elevation

Pardee was releasing 3,374 cubic feet
per second into Lake Camanche while

into the Mokelumne River again at the
time of this report. Pardee Lake was still
receiving snow runoff and was at 101
% while continuing to release over its
spillway.

CDFW Plant Boosts Trout
Fishing Success
PORTOLA – Trout fishing has perked
up at Lake Davis, due to a recent plant of
6,000 trout in the 12 to 16 inch range in
the reservoir by the California Department
of Fish and Wildlife.
“Fishing is not too bad,” said Jim
Graham at the J & J Grizzly Country
Store and Campground Resort. “Bank
fishermen are catching limits of rainbows,
a mixture of planters and larger holdovers
averaging 20 inches each, while tossing
out worms and PowerBait at Mallard and
the Lightning Tree.”
Trollers are nailing the trout while fishing
with red dot frog and copper red head
Dick Nites and Little Simon lures at 10 to
20 feet deep. Another CDFW trout plant
was scheduled for June 13.
Some largemouth bass in the 12 to 14
inch range have been caught by anglers
fishing for trout at the Lightning Tree with
PowerBait and nightcrawlers.
For scrappy brown bullhead catfish,
fishermen should toss out worms and
PowerBait in Coot Bay.
Davis Lake is holding 82,692 feet of
water, 100 percent of capacity and 123
percent of average.

LAKE DEL VALLE
Striped Bass Bite Comes Alive
LIVERMORE – The lake temperature
at Del Valle has been in the lower sixties
in the mornings with the temperature
increasing throughout the day. This makes
the early mornings a key time to be here if
you are interested in trout.
The striped bass fishing is finally coming
back to life as the water temperatures
heat up. We expect to start seeing striper
boils all over the lake in the coming
weeks. For now, the main way to hook

Bass activity continues to be
good. Harley Matney told us his day
started off slow ,but he brought in
two 3 1/2 pounders and a few 1 and
2 pounders dropshoting Sencos.
Crappie and small panfish action
has been slower than normal,,
but this is likely just a side effect
of the late rains and intermittent
cold weather; look for a late start
mid-June. Still, I would be remiss if
I failed to mention the beautiful one-

Durbala caught along with Zachary &
Elias near the marina on a worm.
Now that I’ve gone over this week’s
fishing it seems that one way or
another using worms is solid advice!
