They landed limits of rockfish and about 3/4 limits of lingcod.” The 26 anglers aboard the Kahuna caught 260 rockfish and 17 lingcod up to 18 pounds. On the day before, the 19 anglers on the boat bagged 19 lingcod and 190 rockfish – limits of both lingcod and rockfish – off the Big Sur coast. Fish ALASKA The last salmon mooching trip produced one Chinook for 7 anglers on Monterey Bay. “7 anglers went out knowing the bite is tough to dead and fished hard,” commented Jones. “One lone salmon came in 200 feet of water 80 feet down. That salmon weighed in at 25 pounds. We are hoping for some good old-fashioned spring time northwest wind to liven things up.” “The fishing for halibut was good for the anglers who trolled and drifted bait near Capitola. on May 11,” said Todd Fraser at Bayside Marine in Santa Cruz. “The warm water pushed up and inside the bay so there is bait in front of the harbor now.” “The bluefin tuna were hard to find today but there were a few fish caught and lost,” said Fraser. “The rockfish action was good in the deep water near Wilder Beach. There were a few salmon caught trolling near the west side of the Soquel Hole on the bottom.” “The wind did blow in the afternoon. There were some bonito and large mackerel caught in the Monterey Marine Canyon,” he added. - Dan Bacher 3102 Q ueen of H earts www.captainstevesfishinglodge.com P.O.
