VOL.38 • ISS. 10 HOT BITES... 1. ALMANOR TROUT… One of the best trout bites in the state is taking place at Almanor. Trollers are pulling spoons, plugs and flies for ‘bows and browns to 6 lbs. 2. S.F. BAY POTLUCK… Trollers and live bait drifters are scoring halibut and stripers. Anglers are finding good numbers of fish in both shallow and deep water. 3. DELTA STRIPERS… The striper bite is improving and solid numbers of fish to 12 lbs are being hooked. Trollers are pulling Yo-Zuri’s, bait anglers are soaking sardines and shad. 4. BERRYESSA BASS… Bassers are nailing 10 to 25 fish per day while working the main body. Toss Senkos and worms for bass ranging up to and beyond 6 lbs. GOOD BETS… IT ALL ADDS UP 5. HALF MOON ROCKFISH… The coastal rockfish bite has been very good. A variety of species are showing including vermilions to 8 pounds. 6. TO MORE FISH IN THE BOAT. AMADOR TROUT… Anglers are smacking rainbows and lightning trout. Trollers pull Rapalas and bait anglers are relying on Power Eggs. 7. TAHOE BROWNS… Big numbers of browns that range from 2 to 5 pounds are being caught. Minnow plugs and Flatfish do the damage. 8. CLEAR LAKE CATS… Monster catfish are on the chomp. Crawfish tails, liver, sardines and mackerel are hooking fish to 15 pounds. SLEEPERS… 9. PARDEE KOKES… Kokanee salmon that range up to 15 inches are smashing spinners and hoochies. The mouth of the river arm has been the hot spot. 10. FOLSOM BASS… The bass are staging for the spawn. Bass anglers are hooking 5 to 15 bass per day on soft plastics and jigs while working secondary structure. 11. SUISUN BAY STURGEON… The bite is hot and crowds are light. For a keeper soak salmon roe, eel and night crawlers. 12. SAC RIVER ‘BOWS … Few anglers are fishing the river, but those that do are hooking wild trout to 5 pounds.
