on the bow, a new touch screen Lowrance XDS 9 GPS/
Fishfinder with Structure Scan technology, a Uniden VHF
radio with 8-foot antenna, and 2 Canon Magnum 10 STX
electric downriggers with Canon’s Dual Axis Adjustable
rod holders.
I have done a lot of trolling in Northern California
lakes this year, and the 21’ Coastal is a premier trolling
platform. I use the Minn Kota I Pilot trolling motor on
the bow to steer the boat, while running the Mercury Pro
kicker on the stern for power. This conserves the battery
of the electric, and provides plenty of speed and control
for fishing a variety of lures. With the I Pilot remote
control, I can be at the back of the boat running the Canon
downriggers while steering the boat in whatever direction
necessary.
The Sport Seating package is also a great feature for
a trolling boat. The back seats are built on large storage
boxes on both sides, with a half bench seat and a swiv-
el fishing seat on top. The swivel fishing seat is very
comfortable and allows the angler to face the rear of the
boat while watching trolling lines, or swivel to the front to
view the depth finder or look forward when running.
The unique rear door on the transom is a feature that all
large aluminum boats should have! It makes it very easy to
enter and exit the boat, but it also allows the man with the
net to easily access the offshore bracket and
reach big fish that need to be netted carefully!
One of the most impressive features of this
boat package is the custom made Guardian all
aluminum trailer, which is also built by Rogue
Jet Boatworks. This beautiful trailer is a work
of art! When you look at the trailer when the
boat is off, you can see the perfect welding and
extremely heavy-duty construction. This trailer
features dual axles with 4 wheel disc brakes,
handsome aluminum mag wheels with match-
ing spare tire, and all LED lighting.
Any boat spends much of it’s time, and en-
dures almost all of it’s wear and tear, while be-
ing trailered over rough roads, or even smooth
roads at 60 mph. A rugged trailer is one of the
most important features of any boat package.
