We fished mostly the main body from Skiers Cove to Big Island . They caught the fish while trolling micro hoochies off the Big Island at 40 to 80 feet deep , noted Crispi . “ The males are starting to get their kypes and the fish are getting really picky ,” he noted , “ We ’ re seeing less fish marks in the water .” For black bass at Berryessa now , Don Paganelli of Paganelli ’ s Bass Fishing Experience suggested fishing at 20 to 25 feet deep with drop shot rigs , spoons and jigs . “ The fish are feeding on bait fish when they can find them and crawdads when they can ’ t . The fish are mostly largemouths , with some spots and smallmouths mixed in . The topwater bite isn ’ t very good now , since the water surface temperature is in the 80s .” The launch ramp at Cappell Cove remains closed due to drought conditions and receding water levels . The launch ramp will re-open when lake levels rise . The parking lot and small picnic areas at the Capell Cove will remain open . Additionally , hand launching of kayaks , canoes and other small craft will continue to be permitted . Lake Berryessa is holding 888,155 acre feet of water , 55 percent of capacity and 72 percent of average .

DOBBINS – Kokanee salmon fishing continues to be excellent at Bullards Bar Reservoir , as it has been all winter , spring and summer . “ The Bullards Bar kokanee bite is still going crazy ,” reported Brett Brady of Bare Bones Guide Service . “ The fish are mostly in the north fork arm of the lake at 60 to 80 feet .
