The Spilllway , Bidwell Canyon , Loafer Creek and Limesaddle ramps remain open to boat launching . Lake Oroville is holding 1,478,514 acre feet of water , 42 percent of capacity and 62 percent of average .

Delta Largemouths and Smallmouths Offer Top Action
RIO VISTA- - Largemouth bass fishing is going strong in the sloughs of the Central Delta , while smallmouth fishing is productive in the North Delta . Largemouth bass are hitting in the Central Delta in Disappointment , Connection and White Sloughs . “ If you catch the bite on the high tide and the beginning of the outgoing tide , the fishing can be pretty good ,” said Don Paganelli of Paganelli ’ s Bass Fishing Experience . “ The topwater bite is productive with buzzbaits , Whopper Poppers , Zara Spooks and frogs .” “ On my latest solo trip in this area on Saturday , I caught and released six quality largemouths weighing up to 3 pounds ,” : he stated . “ I was fishing weedy areas with the frogs and working submerged weeds and outside weed lines with the other topwater lures .’ He noted that punching the weeds with tungsten weights with creature baits or throwing wackyrigged Senkos are also productive methods for getting largemouths to strike this time of year . “ The surface water temperature was 76 to 80 degrees . I caught most of my fish while throwing out buzzfrog lures ,” he added .
For smallmouth bass , Paganellis recommended tossing out top water lures and small poppers off riprap banks on Steamboat and Miner sloughs and the Sacramento River . “ Fish either the moving incoming or outgoing tide ,” he advised . “ On my last trip to the sloughs , we caught and released around 20 smallmouths .” Information : ( 916 ) 502-3474 . Brannan Island State Recreation Area is open on weekendsonly from 8:00 a . m . to 7:00 p . m . until September 1st . A new concessionaire is being recruited for fulltime duty . Only the launch ramp and nearby day-use area is open as the other parts of the park remain closed .

Rainbows , Trout and Kokanee On The Chew
Shasta Lake- Shasta lake is sitting about 128 ’ from crest and right around 81 ° surface temperature . Finally , I ’ ve got good news for the trout anglers . We are catching limits of rainbow trout and they ’ re full of shad . It ’ s great to see limits of rainbow trout ! We are also catching kokanee and kings while trolling for trout . We are catching multiple limits before 10:00am . We ’ re mixing speed from 2.1 to 2.7mph without dodgers or flashers . Spoons have been doing very well so we haven ’ t been experimenting with other lures . Most of the the fish can be found in the 70-80 ’ mark with some shallower in the early morning . 4110 temperature . Redding has been seeing extremely high temperature at around 100 ° to 114 °. We are catching multiple limits before 10:00am . We ’ re mixing speed from 2.1 to 2.7mph without dodgers or flashers . Spoons have been doing very well so we haven ’ t been experimenting with other lures . Kokanee and kings are being caught even in the late morning still using the same trout spoons and speed . Some kokanee do have some copepods but aren ’ t as bad as the rainbows . The Kokanee are getting very fat and some are starting to get the kype nose . We ’ re also noticing rainbows aren ’ t quite as big as normal for this time of year . Hopefully , we will they will start to see the big fish soon . We are just really happy the bite is on . Hopefully the next report will be about big fish limits .

Fast Kokanee Action The Rule
TRUCKEE – The kokanee fishing continues to be great at Staumpede Reservoir , where limits are the rule most days . “ We had 2 trips today at Stampede ,” said James Netzel of Tight Lines Guide Service . “ The best depth was 35-45 ’ deep in the morning , while in the late morning we did best at 65 ’ -75 ’. The Paulina Peak Tackle cotton candy UV hoochie was tops today , but we did catch some on watermelon Tahoe spinners . All of the lures were fished 8-10 ” behind P Lite dodgers . The speed was 1.1-1.2 SOG . We used tuna flavored corn on the hooks .” On his previous trip , Netzel reported just getting back from vacation . “ After flight delays after delays , I got back home at midnight ,” he stated . “ Luckily today ’ s charter asked for a late start . After hearing about a big slowdown , I was hoping for the best . Well , we started fishing at 9:30 and had 5 limits before noon !! What slowdown ?” “ The hot color was Paulina Peak Tackle cotton candy . I know that because we started with only 2 cotton candy hoochies , a watermelon Tahoe spinner and a cotton candy Tahoe spinner . We caught fish on the cotton candy hoochies . If you know me , I rarely run 4 of the same setups at a time , but did today and it paid off . The Depth was 55 ’ -70 ’ otw . 50 ’ setbacks only to give my clients more chance to lose a couple and speed was 1.1-1.2 SOG . Again , we used tuna flavored shoepeg corn ,” he concluded .
