HOT BITES ...

RIO VISTA / DELTA … The striped bass bite is off to an early start with trollers and pluggers often finding huge schools on both the Sacramento and San Joaquin Rivers . Rat-L-Traps are producing for trollers , while pluggers are having success with swimbaits and spoons .

BODEGA BAY ... The rockfish and lingcod action is wide-open . Lingcod are averaging 12-14 pounds with the largest weighing in at 27 pounds . Albacore are showing offshore and some bluefin tuna , yellowfin tuna , bigeye tuna and striped marlin have been caught .

LAKE BERRYESSA … Trollers are landing rainbow trout that range from 14 to 23 inches long while trolling with Optimizer Spoons . Anglers are also landing big kings and spotted and smallmouth bass while using BladeRunner Spoons and Flutter Spoons .

FISHERMAN ’ S WHARF / BERKELEY
… Charter boats fishing the Farallon Islands are scoring a mixed bag of rockfish and lingcod . Anglers staying in the SF Bay are catching nice halibut while those trolling for salmon are still bagging quality fish .
GOOD BETS …

ENGLEBRIGHT LAKE … Anglers trolling nightcrawlers behind flashers are bagging holdover trout in the 14 to 18 inch range . The fish have been holding near the dam and no-ski zone .

HALF MOON BAY … Shallow water anglers are nailing lingcod , cabezon , and a variety of rockfish . Swimbaits , bars and shrimp flies tipped with squid are the best baits .

LAKE AMADOR … Bass and catfish are feeding on schools of shad so anglers using flukes , jerkbaits and Rat-L- Traps are having success . Anglers targeting catfish are also doing well with chicken liver , nightcrawlers , mackerel and shad .

LOS VAQUEROS RESERVOIR …
Catfish plants continue and anglers are catching a lot of fish in the 5-6 pound range . Bigger fish are also being caught , including one that tipped the scales at 21.17 pounds that was caught on chicken liver .
SLEEPERS …
9 .
CHANNEL ISLANDS … Calico bass , sheephead , and barracuda are keeping anglers busy while using live sardines or anchovies . On occasion , white seabass and dorado are also being caught .
CENTRAL COAST … The lingcod bite
10 . is heating up for anglers using jigs and swimbaits . Rockfish limits are the norm for those using shrimp flies tipped with squid .
EBBETTS PASS … Shore anglers
11 . and boaters fishing Lake Alpine are experiencing great trout action . Most of the fish range from 12 to 14 inches but some nice 5 to 7 pounders are in the mix . Bank anglers are doing well using nightcrawlers and PowerBait while trollers are having success using Wedding Rings and minnow imitation lures .
