Lingcod and Rockfish On Wide- Open Bite As Albacore , Yellowfin and Exotics Show Offshore

BODEGA BAY – Rick Powers , Captain of the New Sea Angler , reported “ red hot ” action on big lingcod and rockfish off the Sonoma County Coast as albacore and a few striped marlin , dorado , and yellowfin tuna are showing off Bodega Bay , Fort Bragg and Shelter Cove . On September 23 , the 25 anglers aboard the New Sea Angler landed 48 lingcod to 27 pounds and limits of rockfish while fishing with Powers . “ We came in when the wind came up ,” he noted . “ The lingcod are averaging

12 to 14 pounds ,” said Powers . “ Fishermen are landing limits of huge ‘ dinosaur ’ brown , canary , vermilion and other rockfish . Anglers are going home with 60 lb . bags of filets . Some salmon are also showing off Ten-Mile Beach .” “ The private boaters have found some pelagics 35 miles west of the harbor outside of the Bodega Marine Canyon ,” added Powers . “ The fish being caught include albacore , big eye , and bluefin tuna , striped marlin and dorado . The anglers are catching the albacore while trolling with tuna feathers .” Dave Douma reported catching an 190 lb . bigeye tun offshore of Bodega Bay on September 21 . “ We went looking for some albacore on Wednesday out of Bodega . We pushed out to the 23 X 54 area . Fish were caught by other boats , including albacore , yellowfin , marlin , and bigeye ,” he said . “ We were stuck on zero , with ten

minutes left before pulling in the lines , when we saw a fish jump . We changed our direction toward that area , and make a loop through that area when we heard ZZZZZzzzzz
