Trollers Lay Into Rainbows and Kings
NAPA – If you want to catch big , bold rainbows , now ’ s the time to hit Lake Berryessa . Nate Kelsch of Big Nate ’ s Guide Service continues to report catching full limits of rainbow trout every day , along with some big kings and some spotted and smallmouth bass , on his latest trolling adventures on Berryessa . The rainbows have ranged from 14 to 23 inches long . Kelch has been trolling with shad at 1.8 mph and Optimizer spoon 4 to 4-1 / 2 from the surface to 40 feet deep north of Big Island and other areas .
