Folsom Lake is above elevation 400 ’ and the 5 mph speed limit has been removed , according to the Folsom Lake Marina . There is always a 5 mph speed limit within 200 ’ of shore and boaters should always use caution when boating on Folsom lake . The launch ramps at Hobie Cove in Brown ’ s Ravine , Stage 2 at Granite Bay and the ramp in Folsom Point are now in operation The reservoir is holding 576,693 acre feet of water , 59 percent of capacity and 142 percent of average . Folsom ’ s water level is 426 feet in elevation , 40 feet from full .

Rainbow Plants Continue into New Year
BYRON - Trout fishing success at Los Vaqueros Reservoir has boomed since the beginning of trout plants at the reservoir this fall on October 29 . The lake has been planted every week with rainbow trout except for
Thanksgiving Week , with a total of 18,500 stocked to date . “ The trout are back ,” according to the Los Vaqueros Marina . “ Mt . Lassen and California Department of Fish and Wildlife ( CDFW ) have been loading us up . We are planting weekly .” The following are the days , amounts and sources of trout plants to date : Date of Fish Plant Amount Source 12 / 28 / 2021 1,000 lbs . Lassen 12 / 22 / 2021 2,000 lbs . CDFW The trout can be be caught while bait fishing with Power Bait and nightcrawlers or trolling with nightcrawlers behind flashers and minnow imitation spoons and other lures . Some of the better spots to target include Peninsula Cove , Cowboy Cove , and Howden Cove . Anglers continue to hook catfish while fishing chicken livers , anchovies and worms in the South Cove and off the pier . The stripers are hitting best on anchovies and chicken livers ,
