Troll Deep For Limits
Susanville - The water has heated up and the Eagle Lake Trout have moved to deeper , more comfortable water . We have put away our fly rods until the water cools again in mid October . At that time , we will again target the fish in water 10 feet deep or less . We are getting limits every trip but we are working harder and longer . We are trolling in water 30-45 feet deep with our baits set from 15-25 feet deep on the down riggers . We are trolling bright colored lThomas Bouyants , and Speedy Shiners in red / gold , red / white , red dot frog , and orange colors . Some days the best bite has not started until around 10 AM so don ’ t give up too early . Between 10-11:30 we have picked up the majority of our limits on my last three trips . Launching at the Gallatin Launch Ramp at the lake ’ s south end is not a problem . The general stores at

Anglers Scratch Out Salmon On Opener
YUBA CITY – Most boats out fishing on opening day on the Feather River below the Thermalito Afterbay Outlet ended up catching one fish , with two salmon being the most boated by any one boat . “ Steve Sidhu landed a 12 pound salmon on opening morning while using a Rob ’ s Dragon Glow Brad ’ s Killer Fish with me below the outlet ,” reported Rob Reimers of Rustic Rob ’ s Guide Service . “ There were about 15 boats fishing there on the opener . None got over two fish into the boat that I saw . I ’ m going to head back to guiding for kokanee on Berryessa and Bullards Bar and salmon on Orvoille .” “ The fish I saw caught were all spring Chinooks ; it ’ s too early for the fall Chinooks to arrive ,” noted Reimers . On his latest trip to Berryessa , a solo adventure , Reimers ended up with five kokanee salmon in the 16 to 18-1 / 2 inch range . “ I hooked them on spinner hoochies , behind Paulina Peak Dodgers , at 50 to 70 feet deep near the Big Island ,” said Reimers . The Feather from the unimproved boat ramp above the Thermalito Afterbay Outfall to 200 yards above the Live Oak boat ramp is open to salmon fishing from July 16 through October 31 . The Feather from 200 yards above Live Oak boat ramp to the mouth is open from July 16 through December 16 . For purposes of this regulation , the lower boundary is defined as a straight line drawn from the peninsula point on the west bank to the Verona Marine boat ramp .

Holdover Rainbows Dominate The Catches
FOLSOM – Folsom Lake , as other lakes in California , keeps getting lower and lower as the Bureau of Reclamation empties the reservoir , but anglers getting out on the lake are still picking up rainbow trout , king salmon and black bass . The reservoir is holing 266,591 acre feet of water , 27 percent of capacity and 35 percent of average . Folsom ’ s water level is 381 feet in elevation , 85 feet from maximum pool . The Granite Bay and Brown ’ s Ravine low water ramps are both open . The speed limit on the entire lake is 5 miles per hour . “ Boaters are catching more
