Water visibility is anywhere from 4-6 feet and will have some mudlines on the weekends due to the high amount of boat traffic out on the lake . Glory Hole Point Boat Ramps : Highest ramp is in water from 1088.00 to 1025.00 ( CLOSED ) Middle ramp is in water from 1028.00-to 940.00 ( OPENED ) Tuttletown Boat Ramps : Highest ramp in water from 1088.00 to 1031.00 ( CLOSED ) Middle ramp in water from 1036.00 to 942.00 ( OPENED ) Angels Cove Boat Ramp : Only one ramp-We have been told this ramp will be opened on 4 / 1 as well as the fish cleaning station .

10.2 Lb . King Tops Salmon Catches
OROVILLE – Rusty Chester topped recent king salmon catches with a 10.2 lb . king salmon that he landed at Lake Orovillle . He was trolling Topcoast Flashers with friends Richard Kowski and Frank Cecene when he boated the giant king . Craig Newton at Willfish Bait and Tackle said the latest reports he received from customers fishing trolling near the dam and the buoy line at Oroville indicated slow fishing . However , he said some trollers working the Limesaddle Marina area in the West Branch reported catching some fish , mostly larger ones over 3 pounds . “ Your best bet is to troll at 50 to 60 feet deep with pearl hoochies and tube baits behind dodgers and flashers ,” he advised . The bass bite is definitely on at Lake Oroville . “ Fishing is awesome ,” said Jamey Sorenson at North Valley Tackle and Pro Shop . “ Boaters are catching and releasing big numbers of mostly spotted bass while using plastic worms , Keitech swimbaits and other lures . Shore Anglers , Boaters Battle Big Rainbows
IONE – Shore fishing for rainbow trout continues to be productive at Lake Pardee Just ask Valentine Ayala , who caught a 7.2 pound trout off the shore at Pardee . Three-yearold Samantha also caught her first fish , a beautiful Lighting Trout , from shore at the reservoir . Shore anglers are catching the trout on jigs or orange Power Bait from shore at rainbow and blue heron points in the main recreation area , reported Casie at the Rocky Mountain Recreation Company . “ Anglers have reported catching over 200 trout in the last four days ,” she noted . Kokanee fishing is picking up for anglers using an array of hoochies and spinners beind dodgers at the mouth of the Mokelumne River . “ Boaters have reported catching around 40 kokanee over the past four days ,” said Casie . “ The bass fishing is also picking up ,” she added . “ Anglers have reported catching and releasing 150 smallmouth and largemouth bass at Pardee over the past 4 days . The biggest fish weighed 8 pounds .” Weekly plants of rainbow trout continue . The latest plant featured 1000 pounds of Mt . Lassen rainbow trout in the 1 to 8 pound range . Low Flow Closure Ended
GUERNEVILLE – The steelhead season is over , with the exception of a few bluebacks found in the system . Anglers can now fish for smallmouth bass – and American shad when they arrive in the system . The low flow fishing closure ended on April 1 and will not return until October 1 , reminded King ’ s Sport and Tackle . Bait season has also ended and will not return until November 1 . Barbless hooks remain in effect and are required year round on the Russian . So until October 1 you may fish with barbless artificial lures during any flow . The Warm Springs Fish Hatchery on Dry Creek below Lake Sonoma reported a total of 617 steelhead this season . That compares to the 2140 reported at the facility last year . The Coyote Valley facility reported 460 steelhead this season . That compares to the 1233 counted at the facility last year .

According to Sam Shallow of Deep Water Guide Service , fishing has been great one day and slow the next . They caught 10 fish on Friday and 31 on Saturday , then 12 fish a day later . Some days they see massive amounts of bait , then go back the next day and the bait is gone . The secret is to keep moving They have been doing best with bait balls on the screen and trolling right through them . They are using Seekers ’ SS Super Moocher rods and can see the rod vibrate as it smashes the bait ball with the downrigger , then the rod goes off with a fish on . Sam has been trolling plugs at 3 mph down about 30 feet on the downrigger . Fly fishing has been up and down as well . On the glassy days they have been stripping booby flies combo with a popcorn beetle , or a single midge underneath the indicator . When there is good chop on the water they go back to the double midge setup under our indicator . They have been catching some great quality fish and the weather is getting really nice !
