With the Ft . Baker release , we ’ ll likely see close to 35,000 adults in two years , a huge benefit to fishing families and communities , both on the coast and inland ,” added McManus . Shore anglers are catching decent numbers of stripers on the Feather River , but boaters are instead heading to the Sacramento River to target the fish , due to low water conditions on the Feather that prevent anglers from navigating on the river . “ The best fishing is for shore anglers from East Nicolaus to Verona ,” said Aaron Searcy at Johnson ’ s Bait and Tackle . “ Most of the fish being caught are hitting on glidebaits , swimbaits and A-Rigs , Schoolies in the 5 to 8 lb . range are showing , along with a few bigger fish .”

Trollers are using Speedy Shiners and pearl hoochies behind dodgers at 35 to 50 feet deep .” The lake elevation is only 397.45 feet in elevation . The reservoir is holding 362,723 acre feet of water , only 37 percent of capacity and 54 percent of average . “ The rumors that Folsom Lake was or is now being held down for the EID project in the South Fork are completely wrong ,” according to the Folsom Lake Marina . “ That project has had no impact on our lake level .” “ There is very inflow into the lake . In a normal year our inflows would be around 5,000cfs +. Currently we are averaging 1,400 cfs .. Shasta and Lake Oroville also have lake levels well below their normal elevation and are looking at low water levels this summer too ,” the report added .

Striper Bite Gets Better
TISDALE – After a slow start , the striped bass fishing is picking up on the Sacramento River from Knights Landing to Colusa . “ I had an awesome day on the water with my buddy Steve Sidhu , reported Rob Reimers of Rustic Rob ’ s Guide Service . “ We launched out of Tisdale and had our limits of stripers by 8:30 a . m . while drifting minnows . The stripers were in the 20 to 22 inch range .” “ The only reason it took so long is that I spent a half hour fighting an oversized sturgeon on a striper rod with a 15 lb . test leader . That was an epic fight in its self . The fish jumped 5 times in all . We did get him and released him .”

17.88 Lb . Cutbow Leads April Angling Parade !
BURSON - This has been the spring of huge rainbow and cutbow trout at Lake Amador . On Friday , April 9 , Clint Van Briggle from Elk Grove landed a 17.88-pound cutbow while trolling a Cripplure near the dam . The lake continues to stock trout weekly . “ Jumping rainbows and tailthrashing golds were stocked today ,” said Elizabeth Lockhart on April 14 .
