Renfrew County ATV Club hosted its second annual Logger ’ s Loop rally out of the All-Star Resort in Madawasaka . This vast network of trails warranted an overnight trip so we camped Friday night . Saturday we headed out on the infamous Logger ’ s Loop from Madawaska to Lake St . Peter for a bite to eat , then up to Whitney , Ont . for fuel and refreshment before completing the loop down the rail trail along the Madawaska River . That was just day one !
After camping out again Saturday night , we travelled to Spectacle Lake Lodge and up to the lookout for its breathtaking view . Then on to nearby Barrys Bay to check out Madawaska Mad Outdoors sporting goods store before returning to the All-Star Resort .
Summer ’ s over but there are fall colour rides everywhere , so check the OFATV ’ s event calendar for one near you .
As much as ATVs are a part of my life year round , they ’ re an even bigger part when fall rolls in . The end of August starts the rounds of my trapping trails to get to bait-sets and check deer stands , and the Honda Pioneer I ride ( on loan from Honda Canada ) means I can carry more gear and take a hunting buddy along for the ride . For trail-clearing tools , carrying capacity for game cameras and tree stand bait , ATVs are your friend for whitetail season . No preparation guarantees success , but it sure increases the odds !
Finally , a seasonal suggestion : After the leaves have fallen and freeze-up sets in , don ’ t put that rig away . There are ATV trails aplenty open and groomed all winter long .
