AOT:
Assisted
Outpatient Treatment
Pilot
A collaboration between The Harris Center, the University
of Texas Harris County Psychiatric Center, and Probate Court
3 ( Judge Jason Cox and Judge Amy Parsons), the Assisted
Outpatient Treatment pilot (AOT) delivers outpatient
treatment under court order to adults. By creating a
partnership between the individual and the mental health
system, AOT greatly increases medication adherence,
reduces costs from hospital readmission and other revolving-
door circumstances and promotes mental health recovery in
qualifying individuals.
National expertize to launch this initiative was provided by
the Treatment Advocacy Center.
