and discovered that I was pregnant with twins!

To my great relief, when I reached about 14 weeks pregnant, both girls stopped showing any interest in breastfeeding from me. If I am honest, it was wonderful, as I simply couldn't take the pain. Kathleen still wanted to cuddle them to fall asleep, and that was absolutely fine with me. However, about one month ago at 25 weeks pregnant, both girls suddenly desperately wanted to feed from me again. I'm finding this difficult and painful. Kathleen feeds through the night sometimes. She will be 3 years old in November.

Hannah is continuing to express night after night so that she can breastfeed the twins when they arrive. Thank Goodness that we have four breasts between us, as it will certainly ease the pressure on me. We are so excited to meet our little boy and girl who should be with us before Christmas.

I can't say for sure if we will continue to breastfeed the twins for as long as we have the girls. It's been an amazing and eye opening experience, and we both feel honoured that we've been able to do this. There are times when I look down at my daughters’ faces when they are feeding and see the faces of my newborn babies. I know that as hard as it is at times, I will cherish every magical milky

snuggle. I will remember how content those beautiful little faces look as they suckle their way to comfort. That's a very special thing, and we are both really looking forward to the next part of our breastfeeding journey. I just hope we can juggle all the different needs of our children, without making any of them feel excluded! So here's to the next round of sore nipples and sleepless nights and warm milky cuddles!
