0ur volunteers are balancing young children, paid work, elderly parents and other volunteer roles. If they can squeeze it in, you might be able to too!

Volunteering is a fantastic way to make new friends. It’s also a good way to keep your brain in gear and have something to put on your CV if you go back to work or change careers. Some roles require a few minutes a week whilst others need more commitment. Only core roles require NCT membership. Very few roles require attending meetings if you do not wish to, as we communicate by branch email and through a closed Facebook group.

If you'd like to get involved, or check out our current vacancies online or please contact [email protected]. If you would like to help out in a more informal way, we ALWAYS need volunteers for rota tasks, as detailed on our website. We'd love to have you on the team!

vital cog in the branch machine for many years and her can-do attitude has kept us smiling through some tough times. Not sure what we'll do without her legendary cupcakes... Thanks for everything, love!

* Part of the 2016 Kiwi branch takeover, Julie Cleary is stepping down as Advertising Coordinator due to work commitments. From hosting meetings and writing articles, to lugging soft play blocks and ambitious baking projects, Julie has always put her hand up to help out the branch - thank you.

* Eleanor Wheeler has now moved Up North and is stepping down from her roles producing this eMagazine. Are YOU interested in keeping 'First Words' going - perhaps getting some new skills on your CV? We need an Editor (or two) to source writers and articles, someone interested in graphic design to be the eMag Designer using online software, and an Advertising Coordinator to work with our advertisers. Please contact us if you fancy a go - no professional experience necessary - on [email protected].

* As we go to press, we are really hoping to welcome Anna Huq as our new Branch Coordinator in the very short term. A mum of two with a background in HR, we look forward to meeting her and hearing her ideas. Ta to Lindsey Buteux for going above and beyond in the meantime.
