Welcome from the BRANCH

A sunny welcome to the Summer

edition of 'First Words'.

Now I have children, I feel even more

lucky to have accidentally ended up living

in the greenest borough in Greater London. This issue celebrates the surprisingly abundance of green spaces in the area. Our contributors are full of inspiration to get us out enjoying the great outdoors with our little ones.

There is a growing body of evidence that 'green exercise' improves mental health: fresh air can blow away the cobwebs after the most sleepless of nights, and make a world of difference to how we feel. Scientific studies also indicate that time spent in free play in the natural world has a huge impact on children's physical and social development. Hope you have a wonderful summer getting out there!

The digital version is packed with hyperlinks that 'flash up' when you initially turn the page. Please share the link if you can: www.nct.org.uk/branches/beckenham-borders/newsletters. All adverts are linked to the relevant organisation’s website and contacts; if you’d like to advertise in our next issue, please see page 50.

We’d love to hear your feedback and ideas at [email protected], and do let us know if you fancy writing an article for the Autumn (what motivates you) or Winter issue (we're not the cereal packet family).

Huge thanks to all our contributors for sharing their time and experiences. Hope you enjoy reading and clicking!
