REALM - Andrew Whyte
King Leopold never visited
Though it was called his realm
The founding fathers of Canada
America without the revolutionary way
Favoured dominion
Many were territories - protected or not
But all in the final analysis realms
Where governance falling a lot less short
Of glory reigned
All this inspite of the pomp, pageantry
And circumstance attending these realms
National mentons
Personal spheres of influence, concern
And focus
Not reflecting the music of the spheres
And magic circles and flutes
But the mundaneness of our lives
Even in those we have realms
A space between stimulus and response
Where cognition happens
And we say like Sojourner, like Jesse
Like the dear woman from Mississippi
I too am a person!
