Tell those who have wings
that those who crawl sing too
tell the penning pessimist
that the hoping optimist
says there is still hope.
Tell the haves that the have-nots
are still thankful.
Tell them at the top
that they at the bottom
still leave their hands in the air longer
in praise.
Tell the oppressor that the oppressed
still have air and they are not paying for it
And so they are still thankful.
