Clean Slate
Trinity Christian Academy needed a fresh start after another losing season in 2024, the fifth in six years. Hired in April to take the helm, Scott Campbell brings 19 years of coaching experience to the Eagles, with stops as head coach at Luling and Clyde High School.
“ What enticed me as I started to research the job was the growth pattern of this area,” said Campbell.“ I learned that our student population is pretty spread out.”
A limited roster brings a wide representation of Fort Worth with players from Weatherford, Benbrook, Aledo and even as far as Azle.
Campbell believes the fast-growing area of Willow Park will contribute to TCA taking off.
Another reason behind Campbell’ s interest in the job was the strong academic piece to the program.
“ They’ re really smart kids,” said Campbell.
With 28 to 29 players expected to be on the roster, Eagles players are forced to play both sides of the ball.
When he began in spring ball, Campbell questioned how much he could put on the plates of his players who had to learn a whole new offense and defense. After watching game film from TCA’ s 2024 season, he wanted to offer a“ clean slate.”
“ They’ ve been open to change,” said Campbell.“ I’ ve been pleasantly surprised by what we’ ve been able to put on them and teach them because of how smart they are.”
One of the players who embraced the intense studying of a new system is quarterback / cornerback Patrick Gullatt.
One of only six senior Eagles this season, Gullatt leads a large group of underclassmen on and off the field.
