at options to replace the 14 starters ( 31 seniors overall ) who graduated last year . With the exception of running back and cornerback , the head coach said they have a pretty good idea of where everyone will fit it .
Many of those athletes that will take a main role got valuable experience last year , watching as the Bearcats fell to South Oak Cliff — who went on to win the state title — in a shocker . “ We use that game as a little bit of negative reinforcement , reminding them what happens if you don ’ t take care of the little things ,” Buchanan said . “ Basically what got us beat were the little bitty things , it wasn ’ t anything big . We fumbled a snap at the end of the game , we were fixing to score a touchdown , we were in the red zone . We had a play called that would ’ ve been a touchdown and we have a bad exchange between the center and quarterback and lose the game .”
This year ’ s senior class brings a focus and more team-oriented mindset , a change from last year when Buchanan said some individualism hurt the team .
“ Guys were more concerned with college and honestly , I blame it more on COVID than I do on kids not being
